Magic Interviews

February 25, 2007

Magic Interviews is a blogspot site which has interviews with magicians.

The interviews are done for the site and collated from old tapes and elsewhere on the web. There are quite a few top magicians included such as Ricky Jay, Eugene Burger, Teller (of Penn and Teller), Meir Yedid and more.

It’s interesting hearing what they have to say about their experiences in magic and thoughts about performing.

Blackpool Magicians Club

February 12, 2007

This is the homepage of Blackpool Magicians Club – probably one of the best known clubs in the UK.

They organise the Blackpool Magician’s Convention, the biggest magic convention in the world. The convention features over 100 Magic Dealers, competitions, lectures and a gala show. It’s amazing really, because I don’t think the club is that big but they manage to organise this amazing convention which is visited by magicians from all over the world.

The site has plenty of info about the convention, history of the club etc. It’s clearly laid out, if a little basic. At least they don’t force you to listen to cheesy music!

Magic Video Blog

February 1, 2007

My other Magic Video blog  is doing well. It’s getting quite a few visitors and has a Google pagerank of 3 now.

I think Videos of anything are popular and magic videos especially. Everyone like to see videos of magic, even if they are not magicians.  Whereas only magicians are probably interested in this site.

Maybe I should knock this blog on the head?

The linkingpage.com is a magic news site based in the US (I think) which has died a death.

It is not being updated anymore, all the stories on the front page ares from August (last year?) and many of the links don’t work.

When you click on the main navigation links at the top, they go to pages stored in web.archive.org. You can get into the site proper, e.g. here, but there are many broken links and missing pages.

It’s a shame really, it used to be a great resource.

Magic Magazine

January 13, 2007

www.magicmagazine.com is the online home of Magic Magazine and at first glance, there is not much to see. I fact, I’ve surfed past this site because the navigation links are images which look like adverts. At first glance, the homepage looks like an advert for the current issue with other magic dealer ads next to it.

However, those advert-like images are links to quite a lot more. Not only can you view videos, the contents pages of the most recent issue and subscribe, you can also download an index of all the issues from 1991 to 2004.

Then you can go to the back issues page and order any individual magazine – although some are sold out.

I think I must be  developing some kind of advert blindness…
